Xeomin

cogency

Xeomin ( incobotulinumtoxin A) is the newest form of botulinum toxin released in 2012. It is very similar in structure to the original Botox product.
Injecting small amounts into specific facial muscles, diminishes facial muscle activity resulting in diminished, and even resolution of unwanted facial lines. Botox is also used to treat excessive sweating (Hyperhidrosis) of the underarms, palms, and soles.

The company states that because if its structure, it can be stored at room temperature( which may result in sustained potency), and patient’s may be less likely to develop resistance to the product over time, as compared to Botox and Dysport. Dr. Loucas finds this may be an important feature, but in his practice and in the literature, the incidence of true resistance developing to Botox or Dysport is very low. In saying that, we have seen patients who may do better with one product over another. Overall, Dr. Loucas feels that it is always nice to have other options in the treatment of facial lines.
